UGG!!!!!!

So I'm about to head off to Sundance, the land of fuzzy boots and scanning eyes. Looking forward to being recognized as "not recognizable" to all of the freezing cold cinematic elite.

In case you were worried, I chose to go under the moniker "Hari LIegh" for this short film, because it's small and I didnt want to take the attention away from the film by being a "name", so thats why the website has me billed that way. It's certainly not because of a typographical error that I have been begging to be fixed.

Hari Liegh = Me. The cats outta the bag.

Sundance!

A very cool indie short I shot earlier this year has just been accepted to Sundance. (see disembodied hand above)

Ever since I was a little girl watching the IFC channel (you feel old now, huh?) I dreamed of having a movie play to the furry booted film community drinking free Boku in Park City Utah. Well, that day has come.

If you happen to be at Sundance this year, Check out '92 Skybox Alonzo Mourning Rookie Card. Directed by hyperkinetic genius Todd Sklar (Box Elder), and starring Alex Rennie, James Pumphrey, and myself.

Showing times are here:

This is Scoop Newsworthy Reporting Live...

Big things happening besides Earthquakes in places where they rarely happen.

Small Pond is showing this Sunday at The Sidewalk Festival in Birmingham Alabama.

http://almovingimage.org/sidewalk-fest.html

Director Josh Slates will be in attendance on its behalf. I will be avoiding getting trapped in airports in Hurricane free Los Angeles and gearing up to record my very first cartoon voiceover for a new Nickelodeon pilot.

Stay tuned for more info about The Sidewalk fest, and my transformation into a television cartoon character, as opposed to the really animated person I've always been.

-Hari

*****UPDATE******

Small Pond took the Programmers Choice award at Sidewalk this year. Congrats to Josh Slates! And many many thanks to Rachel Morgan, Dave West and all the kind folks of Birmingham for the honor. See you next year!

Small Pond to premier at Maryland Film Fest (yay!)

We’re pleased to announce the dates and times when “Small Pond” will be screening as part of its world premiere at the Maryland Film Festival.

Director Josh Slates, producer Kim Sherman and cast members Hari Leigh, Susan Burke and Josh Fadem are all currently slated to be in attendance at the festival as well (in addition to many local Baltimore crew members and some last-minute surprise guests) …

SMALL POND (Josh Slates)
Directed By: Josh Slates
Starring: Hari Leigh, Amy Seimetz, Susan Burke, Josh Fadem, Ann Magnuson, Boson Au

(77 minutes)

Some people need a kick in the face before they realize it's time to grow up. Twenty-something Kirsten (Hari Leigh) is one of those people. She's a rudderless hipster working minimal hours at a pizza-and-beer joint. She isn't exactly a bad person, but a little of her goes a long way. To her put-upon roommate, Katie (Amy Seimetz), she's a nightmare who drinks and eats everything in the house; after all, doing her own shopping would require too much forethought. Even Kirsten's best friend Mike (Josh Fadem) is growing weary of her dip-shitted aimlessness. As summer drags on in her emptied-out college town, Kirsten tries in vain to fight the inevitable boredom and figure out what to do with her life between beers. Then a hit of nitrous oxide helps her figure it out.

Baltimore transplant Josh Slates has staked his claim on dialogue-driven, satiric short films. His feature debut is a sincere coming-of-age story with enough laughs to catch you off guard. Small Pond is an unabashed love letter to his hometown of Columbia, Missouri, where the rent, beer, and part-time jobs are cheap—like the way Baltimore used to be. It's also worth noting solid lead performances by Hari Leigh and Amy Seimetz, plus an appearance by '80s club staple and Bongwater vocalist Ann Magnuson. (Joe Tropea)
